Assistant Director of Alumni and Engagement

The University of Evansville is seeking a Assistant Director of Alumni and Engagement. This position will play a crucial role in maintaining connections and engagement with the alumni community by maximizing alumni involvement and volunteerism that leads to active and consistent philanthropy.  The position does this through strategic creation of programs and projects that engage and provide tangible benefits to alumni, students, parents, donors, and friends of the University. The assistant director develops and implements communication strategies through mass and individual communication, nurtures relationships with volunteers, board members, alumni, and UE families; creates, manages, and plans events to support this involvement, and is tasked with stewarding the giving and giving potential of these volunteers.  This position reports directly to the Director of Alumni and Engagement. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain regular communication with alumni and UE Families through emails, newsletters, social media, and other platforms to keep them informed about events, volunteer opportunities, and general University news. 
  2. Build and maintain relationships with alumni by understanding their interests, achievements, and contributions to gather notable information on our alumni to better share our University story with the masses while maintaining alumni volunteer database, responding to interest queries from potential volunteers.
  3. Create and implement engagement strategies that encourage alumni involvement, such as mentorship programs, guest speaker opportunities, alumni trips and events, and volunteer opportunities. New ideas and innovative thinking are encouraged. 
  4. Partner with Harlaxton College team to host alumni trips and gatherings at Harlaxton. 
  5. Collaborate with University Advancement to engage alumni in fundraising campaigns including, but not limited to the unrestricted annual fund, FORWARD >> Campaign priorities, scholarships and more. 
  6. Assist alumni affinity groups to coordinate events, special programs, reunions, and communication. 
  7. Serve as the main liaison between Alumni and Engagement and campus areas that may need volunteer resources. 
  8. Coordinate alumni programs, outreach, and giving for Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) in collaboration with the Annual Giving Officer. 
  9. Attend and contribute to meetings of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, Harlaxton Society Board, and other volunteer boards and special groups as requested by the Director of Alumni and Engagement
  10. Develop and implement strategies to expose and educate current students about opportunities to remain connected and involved as alumni. This position does this through active interaction and engagement with our graduating seniors and more.   
  11. Actively support Pep and Vim Spirit Week and UE’s Annual Day of Giving with focus and emphasis on the campus campaign outreach, awareness/education, unrestricted giving, and participation from students. 
  12. Assist with programs and events associated with the Office of University Advancement such as SOAR, welcome week, family weekend, Winter on Walnut, homecoming, reunion weekend, and Alumni Awards.
  13. Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree preferred. 3-5 years experience in event planning, communications, social media implementation, volunteer program management, and stewardship desired.
